Its surprising that out of all the cartoons i watched, its these little creatures trotting around, that come into my mind. Its like a season, its not a same thing we keep thinking for a long time. It changes. Be it a song you hum desperately despite your attempts to avoid it. Or even its some incident happened long back but all of a sudden you find yourself in melancholy thinking about it as if its a fresh wound. Life. Its surprising by the way it unveils in such a manner that you are left feeling a daft.
So, what i wanted to say is, its one of those moments. And now, i see chip and dale everywhere. I mean i remember them in most unusual situations. Like if two kids are fighting, or a fat guy roaming with a tiny guy. Its weird. But again its good to feel so. Makes me feel alive. And though Chipmunks became quite famous after the ‘Alvin and Chipmunks’ But they didn’t seem to carry that glory as the Rescue Rangers did. It still seems funny to see Chip loosely portrayed as Indiana Jones….oh that fedora on his head seemed so appealing. The cool, funny-for-good behavior of dale is a delight but somehow, at times, i found myself feeling more irritated than Chip for his silly mistakes!!! That was a way we relate to cartoons, or probably some series i guess. Poor humans. Too virtual to stay real….!!!
But the only backdrop i felt was Gadget Hackwrench. Be it the name, the looks, the way she speaks. I mean, i know….they’re chipmunks. But when chip and dale could be so cute and homely, i wonder why hackwrench was made so chirpy and often resembling herself to a mouse you are more likely to find in the houses. The fat guys though, have a soothing special corner in cartoons. Be it Monty, or Talespin…..they feel so hearty. Well, i’m not speaking of the antagonists like Fat Cat et al.,
Ah….Golden days they were….indeed. Anyways, as i mentioned earlier, its unpredictable when this season ends so…..we gotta say cheers to those Old days…’Golly’
